An Integrative Approach

to Dementia Risk Reduction

As a certified Integrative Wellness & Life Coach, I use a holistic approach that considers the whole person – mind, body, heart, and spirit.  Drawing on philosophies and cultures throughout history – from the ancient Greeks to Native Americans and the ayurvedic sciences – this approach to wellness emphasizes the importance of balance, harmony, and wholeness.

Why Integrative Wellness?

As an expert in Dementia Risk Reduction, I work collaboratively with clients to increase brain-protective functions and decrease risk factors.

The simple truth is that everything you do good for your body, you do good for your brain. From exercise to nutrition and beyond, the choices you make today define your life tomorrow. I will provide you with research-informed tools and methods to improve your body’s ability to protect against dementia, chronic disease, and infirmity.

Like other chronic, degenerative conditions, dementia is easier to avoid than to reverse. Research shows that the risk of cognitive decline can be reduced by addressing and eliminating neuro-threats. I will empower you to become intentional each day with your time, energy, thoughts, actions, habits, and choices to optimize your dementia risk profile.

When it comes to Dementia Risk Reduction, there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution so we start with understanding your individual risk profile and co-create a wellness plan that is tailored to your needs, desires, and goals. I believe that all people are wired for empowerment and so my approach to conscious aging encourages intrinsic motivation, self-discovery, and accountability.

By combining an integrative, holistic approach with research-informed tools and methods, you will experience powerful transformation, lasting results, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing you are doing everything in your power to create the life you want today and in the future.

The Four Areas of Self

All four of these body systems make up each of us.

All are interconnected and affect one another.

What are some signs that the mental system of self is out of balance?

  • Negative, racing thoughts

  • Poor self-image

  • Critical and judgmental of others and self

  • Difficulties focusing and making simple choices

  • Magnified negative emotions

  • Blowing things out of proportion

When we move towards balance in this area, we find greater harmony in our thought life and our thought patterns. Our thoughts of others and self are peaceful. We experience effective goals and actions because we make choices that are in line with the person we want to be.

What are some signs that the emotional system of self is out of balance?

  • Depression

  • Mood swings

  • Trigger responses

  • Chronic illness

  • Unfulfilling relationships

When we move towards balance in this area, we find freedom from negative experiences and emotions of the past. We become able to give and receive love unconditionally, and our relationships with others become more fulfilling. We discover ways to process and release strong, unpleasant feelings in a healthy way, rather than being controlled by them.

What are some signs that the physical system of self is out of balance?

  • Weight gain

  • Sleep issues

  • Exhaustion

  • Chronic illness

  • Frequent physical injury

  • Unstable, unfulfilling physical environment

When we move towards balance in this area, we find harmony in our physical health and physical environment. Our bodies are strong, healthy, and balanced and we have the things in life that we want to have. Internally and externally, we experience stability, safety, and success.

What are some signs that the spiritual system of self is out of balance?

  • Conflict and mixed messages

  • Unwelcome outcomes

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Isolation, loneliness & feelings of separateness

  • Life feels lacking in purpose

When we move towards balance in this area, we find alignment with our higher self and our purpose in life. The path of spiritual development leads us to inner peace, connectedness, and wholeness. As we practice and experience a connection "God", our Higher Power, Higher Spirit, energy, or however we define it, we build strength and wholeness in the other 3 systems.
